2026 update: an inspiring trip to London and a new exhibition.
ENGLISH VERSION BELOW
Bijna halfweg 2026.
Stay tuned!
We’re almost halfway through 2026. What has the year brought so far in terms of photography?
At the end of May, I was in London for, among other things, a workshop on street portraits with Gary Lashmar, the man behind The Dare Photography Community. The workshop comes highly recommended. The focus isn’t on technical aspects, but on your attitude as a photographer, how you approach people and engage them in your photos, finding suitable light and a good background. It’s very inspiring in the sense that it makes you even more eager to get out onto the streets and take portraits. The next workshop takes place on 10 and 11 October. Don’t hesitate!
During the same trip, I was one of over 100 street photographers taking part in “The Biggest One”: a street photography walk through central London as part of the Street Badass Street Photography Festival.
I submitted photos for this festival, but didn’t make the shortlist. I did, however, get shortlisted for a similar festival in Dublin with a photo that had previously been exhibited at IsSI. That was the venue for the Effenaf duo exhibition with the brilliant artist Si Bollé in March. That was the highlight of 2026 so far. So far… because there’s a follow-up coming in September. Stay tuned!

Big thanks to photographer Rob Boyd for inviting me to his excellent podcast. He wrote a very kind description for the episode: “Bart is a seasoned photographer with over 20 years of experience. His photography has a constant sublime quality and his skills are recognised throughout the street photography community. His use of stunning colours, textures and shadows led me to his work years ago before even discovered street photography and manages to create truly amazing scenes on a daily basis He is one the kindest and supportive people within the photography community and his love of photography is evident in everything he does.” Yes, I’m blushing. Thanks again Rob!

Slices of Time: Street Photography Podcast.
Big thanks to Fred Paulussen for inviting me to his podcast! We share a passion for street photography.
For me, it’s a good reason to leave the house, an excellent excuse to book a city trip, a nice way of making new friends. And - a big bonus - occasionally you take a nice shot.
You can listen to the podcast on Spotify and YouTube. Show notes available on https://www.fredericpaulussen.be/bart-azare-aka-bartdoetdestraat/
